過三爆四 — Small But Mighty: Peanut Butter Cookie

Semester 2 FREE EXAM COOKIE GIVEAWAY: Have you received our MHFAC: 過三爆四 – Small But Mighty: Peanut Butter Cookie ? 🥜💛 We gathered more than 10 MHFAC from BUS, SCI, COMM & FASS Captains baked more than 1000 peanut butter cookies shaped like “過三爆四” – a classic HK student phrase that means “get above GPA 3.0, and push for 4.0” . The flavour? 好事花生 (sounds like “good things happen” in Cantonese). Yes, it’s peanut butter. Simple, nostalgic, and surprisingly comforting. From 14 to 22 April, our captains walked around campus, handing these little encouragements to classmates who looked tired, stressed, or just in need of a smile. On 14 April, we making a double impact, MHFAC baked mindfully and we even hosted a walk-in cookie-making workshop at Village CARE, seeing everyone get their hands messy, laugh over misshapen “過三爆四” letters, and relax before exam starts Shoutout to everyone who made this happen: 🎨 The Canva card design 👩‍🍳 Cookie making & teaching in VC 📦 Cookie distribution crew ( Ocean Reese Bautista, Candy L., Phoebe Ng and more) The event is over now, but I still smile thinking about it. “Small Potato BIG Dream” Guest Speaker Session

A few weeks ago, Prof. Caric Hon reached out: "Jenny, can you be a guest speaker for BUSI3057 Managing Entrepreneurial Ventures? Your company has grown so much since BIG 10.0 – SPBD is no longer a startup. You're managing a venture in the growth stage." My honest first reaction? "Hmm… what did I actually do?" Between running a social enterprise bakery, empowering individuals with special educational needs (Autism, ADHD), managing six courses, and handling daily operations – I rarely stop for reflection. Easter gave me that rare space. I refined my slides, traced my actual decisions, and added honest, raw lessons to the class session. Here are a few takeaways I shared with the students (and myself): 🧠 Mindset ≠ Business Entrepreneurial mindset is universal – but not everyone needs to start a venture. Knowing when not to start is a superpower. ⏱️ Time management is survival Balancing courses + venture means instant responsiveness and creating your own structure. No one hands you deadlines. ⚡ Idea abundance is a struggle So is writing clear instructions for delegation. I've learned to outsource what I suck at (or hate doing) and use AI – but always double-check. ❤️ Emotions first, decisions second Trade-offs are constant. Managing my emotions before managing the venture changed everything. Adapting to every challenge that is coming ahead! 🍪 Mission in action Our bakery is a social enterprise. We train interns with special needs before they start. The most important thing is how to take action from idea to testing out the market. 💡 One more truth I'm still learning A startup is not about "wow, I got a business". It's about customer relationships, uniqueness, differentiation, and managing your team. Still learning while doing, and we are serious about it. 🙏 Gratitude Thank you, Prof. Caric Hon, for the invitation and for seeing growth in me before I saw it myself. Top 8 & Best Presentation — Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge Grand Finals

🏆 Small Potato in Top 8 & Best Presentation at HKSEC Grand Finals 25/26 Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC) has never been about who comes out on top. It's about how we transform social impact into action that truly serves society. I'm grateful to be part of a community that lives that spirit. This year, I pitched more than 10 times. Moving from a rigid script to freeflow was a real challenge—especially because I have dyslexia, and presenting in Chinese adds an extra layer. But somewhere along the way, I stopped struggling and started enjoying the process of using words to express. Receiving the "Best Presentation" recognition means a lot to me. It's a tribute to all the hard work behind the scenes. But the real work is what we do every day. Small Potato BIG Dream is not only about baking. We are changing lives. We are shaping a more inclusive society, turning it into a platform for building life skills, confidence, and connections. What began as a personal frustration is now a growing movement to reshape how society sees SEN individuals. 🍪 1. Workplace Soft Skills Training Baking as a medium, employability as the goal We simulate real workplace environments through baking. SEN participants learn attitude, communication, teamwork, and professional etiquette—skills that open doors to meaningful employment. 🎤 2. School & University Workshops From entrepreneurship to career paths We visit primary schools to universities, sharing stories of entrepreneurship and career journeys. Our message to SEN and non-SEN students alike: Do not let others define who you are. Academic results are not everything. Everyone is unique—embrace your strengths and use tools like AI to bridge the gaps. 👨‍👩‍👧 3. Family-Based Baking Sharing Empowering parents, supporting schooling We encourage parents with practical strategies to support their SEN children through schooling. Change starts at home, and we want every parent to feel equipped, not alone. A huge thank you to the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC) organizers and Tricia Kwong for creating a platform that champions meaningful change. To my mentors, your guidance turned uncertainty into clarity. And to our supporters: thank you for believing in Small Potato BIG Dream when we were still just an idea.
